Remove your dentures daily and rinse under running water. Brush with a soft-bristled brush and a denture-specific cleaning product, not regular toothpaste, as it scratches the surface. Soak them in water when not in use to prevent warping. If you use adhesive, clean inside the gum grooves to remove any residue buildup.
It takes most people a few weeks to adjust. Speech and chewing may feel different at first, this is normal. Start with softer foods and gradually reintroduce harder ones. Regular wear speeds up the process, and your Green Door Dental team can make adjustments if needed.
Yes. Dentures are a non-surgical option, so the risks associated with invasive procedures don't apply. That said, poorly fitting dentures can cause gum irritation over time. Regular check-ups every one to two years ensure your dentures still fit correctly as your jaw and gums naturally change.
Most dentures last between 5 and 10 years with proper care. Lifespan depends on the type of denture and how your jaw and gums change over time. Full dentures may need relining or replacing sooner than partial dentures. Routine check-ups help identify when a reline, repair, or replacement is due.
