Choosing an All on 4 clinic where you feel safe, comfortable and confident in your dentist’s expertise is key to ensuring successful treatment. But with so many Sydney All on 4 clinics, it can be tricky to determine which provider is right for you.

Fortunately, there is a way to take the guesswork out of finding the best All on 4 clinic to carry out your procedure. To help you make a more informed choice, we’re sharing the 5 essential questions to ask before deciding on a potential All on 4 clinic.

Your All on 4 clinic checklist

No time to dive into the details? No worries! We’ve put together this handy All on 4 checklist below — take a screenshot and make sure you ask your potential All on 4 provider these 5 questions:

Does the dentist have specific training in the All on 4 procedure?
Does the dentist have proven experience in the All on 4 procedure?
Does the clinic have long-term patient follow-ups for the All on 4 procedure?
Does the clinic use high-quality All on 4 components and materials?
Does the clinic have a qualified sedationist?

Now, let’s take a deeper look at each of these questions and why they are so important in your search for an All on 4 clinic.

1. Does the dentist have specific training in the All on 4 procedure?

Did you know that dentists are not required to undertake additional University training to perform dental implant surgery? Yes, this means that any dentist could attempt to perform the All on 4 dental implant procedure without specific training in implant surgery.

This can be a scary thought considering All on 4 is a complex procedure that requires a high level of technical skill and planning to be successful.

Dr George Connell explains the all-on-4 dental implants procedure to a patient at Green Door Dental.
Our All-on-4 dentist, Dr George Connell, has spent over three decades practising implant dentistry. He has a Clinical Diploma in Oral Implants and is also a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

It’s important to know you’re in safe hands so don’t be afraid to ask your potential All on dentist whether they have completed additional training in this type of implant procedure. At Green Door Dental, your All on 4 dentist will be Dr George Connell, who has spent over three decades practising implant dentistry. He has a Clinical Diploma in Oral Implants and is also a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. Safe hands? Absolutely.

2. Does the dentist have proven experience in the All on 4 procedure?

When it comes to the success and longevity of All on 4, experience is key. You’ll want to ensure you’re working with a highly experienced dentist who deeply understands the All on 4 treatment concept.

Be sure to ask your potential All on 4 provider these two questions:

How many All on 4 procedures have you performed?

How many years have you been performing dental implant procedures?

This will give you a clear picture of your dentists’ expertise in this type of dental implant procedure. It’s also worth noting that your dentist’s level of experience can influence the cost of All on 4 dental implants. As a general guide, the more experienced the dentist is in All on 4 treatment, the higher the treatment fee. Likewise, if you receive a quote for cheaper All on 4 treatment, this could indicate the dentist’s lack of experience and training in this procedure.

3. Does the clinic have long-term patient follow-ups for the All on 4 procedure?

It’s one thing to have all the right qualifications and years of experience, but the real testament to an All on 4 dentists’ work is their long-term patient outcomes. You’ll want to see how their work stands the test of time — not just the immediate results they can achieve in the chair.  Long-term patient follow-ups will show you how good (or not-so-good) an All on 4 patient’s smile looks after several years of wear and tear. This is why it’s essential to ask your potential All on 4 clinic for their longest patient follow-up.

Ideally, your All on 4 dentist should be able to provide you with high-quality before and after photos, as well as patient case studies dating back 5 to 10 years. Your All on 4 clinic may also offer to put you in touch with previous All on 4 patients so you can hear their first-hand experiences of the procedure, results and cleaning and maintenance.

4. Does the clinic use high-quality All on 4 components and materials?

You want your All on 4 smile to look natural and last for many years to come. So, be sure to check that your potential All on 4 clinic is using the highest quality components and materials, backed by long-term clinical research. A good indicator of quality is the warranty on the implant components. You should also check whether the clinic sends their lab work to local Australian dental technicians or offshore as this can significantly impact the quality of work.

It’s also important to know what materials the clinic uses in their tooth bridges and what type of tooth bridge is included in your quote. A cheaper quote may only include an initial acrylic tooth bridge, which is used as a temporary bridge while your jaw and gums heal. This means you would need to pay an additional fee for a tooth bridge made from a more durable material like Zirconia down the track.

Be wary of the cheapest All on 4 quotes — some clinics will use cheaper All on 4 components and materials to cut down on treatment costs. This not only affects the longevity and cosmetic appearance of your All on 4 smile, but cheaper materials may also put you at a higher risk of implant failure. Keep in mind that cutting corners on costs now could see you forking out a lot more to fix All-on-4 problems in future.

5. Does the clinic have a qualified sedationist?

When going under sedation, you’ll want to ensure you’re in the safest and most capable hands possible. With that in mind, you may be surprised to learn that many All on 4 clinics don’t use a qualified medical doctor to administer and supervise their IV sedation.

Dr Zoe Rodgers, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, with additional training in sedation treatment, will administer twilight sedation at Green Door Dental.
With a passion for exceptional care and helping even the most anxious patients feel at ease, Dr Zoe takes pride in putting your comfort and wellbeing first. If you suffer dental anxiety and want to breeze through your all-on-4 surgery, you’ll be in great hands with Dr Zoe.

But this is not something you’ll need to worry about at our Gregory Hills or Moss Vale All on 4 clinics. Our very own Dr Zoe Rodgers will be by your side to administer your sedation during the All on 4 surgery. Dr Zoe holds both a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, with additional training in sedation treatment.
